Now this recipe will give you the step by step instructions to make our glorious orange zest cake.
Perfect for a family occasion or even if you want to indulge yourself as a treat!
Ingredients you will need:
- 8oz unrefined caster sugar
- 8oz unsalted butter
- 4 free range eggs
- 8oz of self raising flour
- 1 buzzed up whole satsuma
- 1 dessert spoon of grated orange zest
Firstly buzz one whole Satsuma, put to one side.
Next mix soft butter with castor sugar into white and fluffy then gradually add eggs and self raising flour alternately until all blended
Then add the buzzed up Satsuma to the cake mix and spread mixture evenly into two Victoria sandwich tins.
Finally pop in the oven for 14 to 20 minutes depending on the temperature of your oven, until springy to the touch.
- 4oz unsalted butter
- Half tub Marscapone
- Splash of orange juice
- Teaspoon grated zest
- 6 oz icing sugar
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl for the icing and when the cake is cool, ice as per photo.
The success of this cake is putting in a whole Satsuma which keeps the cake moist, and with mascarpone in the icing we recommend that you store in the fridge.
